I think this scares me more than anything else I've seen with regards to the weekend's tragedy. I think the reason why it bothers me so much is that I've taught kids who bear a striking resemblance to this story. So many people talk about how ridiculous it is that this child was allowed to do what he did, but none of them realize how difficult it must have been for his mother who bore the sole responsibility of raising him. My heart goes out to all affected by this tragedy, but mostly to those mothers who must bear the burden of children with severe Emotional Handicapping conditions. They are the true heroes who keep more more of this kind of thing from happening.
